Weight Struggles Times Two

November 18, 2011

So... no one in this house seems to be able to get their weight to change much.
Lily is gaining, but SLOWLY!  At her 2 month checkup on Wednesday she was 7 lbs 11 oz.  She is currently on Prilosec for reflux, and while it has helped some, overall the reflux seems to be worse lately.  She often refuses to eat and when she does eat she will squirm and complain like we are torturing her.  And now the projectile vomiting has started.  I would be lying, if I didn't admit that I am worn out and stressed beyond belief from all of this.  I guess I assumed having the pregnancy from hell would give us an easier time on the other side, but as you can see this certainly hasn't been the case.  Yesterday Lily had an upper GI study, which didn't show anything that would require surgery.

Today we are headed to see a speech therapist for some of the aversion to eating issues.  I really hope we can find something that helps her soon!  I feel like the time to enjoy her during these early months is slipping away, and find myself sad.

As for me... well... my weight this week is really barely better than last week.  I am down .2.  Which makes an overall loss over 2 weeks .1 of a pound (yes, that is a point in front of the 1).  Mathematically it doesn't even make sense, because I'm definitely taking in enough reduced calories to equal at least a 1-2 pound loss, and yet I lose .2.  Very frustrated and down about it, and with all the stress regarding Lily's reflux and eating issues, I just don't have the energy to even deal with it all right now.

As stressed, exhausted, and frustrated as I am right now.  I am so incredibly thankful every morning to kiss my sweet little girl's head, that for those moments it all just melts away!

  1. I am sure your stress level has a lot to do with your weight struggles as frustrating as it may be. I hope your little girl starts to make a turn around and you can spend a little time on you:)

  2. Mason has severe reflus as well and was a poor nurser. I tried the prilosec, but got no results. I actually went to the chiropractor with him and THAT was the only thing to help. Not sure if that is a viable option with her having Turners, but I know that it was gold for us. My prayers for you both. You are doing a great job Sarah!

  3. You're so hard on yourself! You are doing an amazing job- I completely understand the stress. I hope you can find some answers soon for her reflux/eating issues! Addison had the g-tube for her first 4-5 months and I found that stressful, but comforting at the same time. She took FOREVER to gain any weight at all. Chin up- you're an awesome mommy!
I've also been frustrated with weight loss. I'm pumping around the clock, running 3.1 miles every other day and watching my calories like a fiend and barely losing at all. sigh. hopefully it'll just start falling off- for both of us!

  4. Stress impacts your body's ability to loose weight. Hang in there, things will turn around. I'm sending you lots of prayers.

  5. The stress absolutely will prevent you from losing weight. You just need to hang in there, and as you continue your good habits and your body adjusts (as much as possible) to the stress you will lose weight. Don't give up!
